i like how the veins look like a tree, or vice versa...maybe its the eye socket that looks unfinished ?i mean you wouldnt be able to see through it and that kind of looks like what is going on...maybe adding some texture/shading to that area would help ?

Maybe I can tell you what's missing; You can look through the eye-hole, where there should be bone inside I think. Although I have a big book about anatomy, I didn't check the anatomy of a skull recently, but it just looks strange to me.
Maybe, if it still looks unfinished to you, you could give it a more macabre atmosphere by drawing mist or something filthy hanging down from the skull. I really love the way it looks right now though.

Oh damn... you are right - there is supposed to be bone where there is none at the present moment. We do not have a giant hole there...

Although, I may have left that there for some reason, perhaps to continue a strand of the veins/tree/thing...

I don't know what to do with it, and it's been sitting there unfiinished for three years now...

It will most likely simply sit there, looking almost finished, and yet its means of attaining conclusion are, well, very unapparent.

Perhaps I will re-do this piece - I believe it was going somewhere, and I think I have matured since I drew this, both as an artist and a person. I may be able to direct its meaning and composition much more fluidly at this point, and with a fresh slate to build off of.

That would be the best I think. It's a risk to continue working on an old piece. I think the anatomical incorrectness (or just unfinished) doesn't matter anyway, as the roots make this piece more surrealistic.
